Discussion: Final Presentation (Complex Problem Outline)
Please observe these best practices when constructing a presentation:
1. Do not have text smaller than 24 pt font on any slide.
2. Do not have more than 7 lines of text on any slide.
3. If you include images, cite the origin of the image in your slide (the citation may be smaller than 24 pt)
4. Your entire presentation should be no longer than 15 slides, including a title and references slide.
Instructions:
For this assignment, you will create a 10-15 slide presentation in which you:
1. Identify a complex, real world problem of interest to you personally or related to your future career.
2. Explain why this problem is complex.
3. Identify how the problem might be addressed using your cognates (or disciplines within your cognates) – why these cognates are relevant to an effective response to the problem. That is, why are the phenomena generally studied by these cognates relevant in an analysis of this complex problem? Social science and Education are my cognate
4. Locate and then BRIEFLY critically analyze one academic, peer-reviewed article from each cognate that provides insight into this complex problem (you may need 2-3 slides MAX for each article to effectively summarize the article and analyze its main arguments). Total of two article analyses must be provided.
5. Provide a summary slide (or slides) in which you combine your insights from the cognates (and articles) to show a realistic and informed response to the complex problem. Include possible shortcomings or need for further investigation on your summary slide. No more than 3 slides for your summary please.
6. Provide a works cited slide (use whichever format – APA, MLA, etc is most appropriate for your cognates) which should include the full citation for your articles and any other materials cited in your work.
7. Upload your completed presentation to the discussion (either as an attachment or a URL depending on the software used). It is your responsibility to make sure the presentation may be accessed by me and by your peers.
You should use images appropriately and effectively in your slides! Remember our work on visual arguments!
You may use whichever presentation software you wish, as long as it may be viewed by everyone.
Comment on at least 2 of your peers’ presentations with your detailed observations (2 paragraphs for each post)
