Sources of trauma can come in many forms such as intimate partner violence, injury, abuse, car accident, natural disasters, war, bullying, community violence, etc. Chapter 12 covers Trauma Theory and identifies definitions, impacts, neuroscience research, types, assessments, and trauma-related interventions.
It is impossible to think that all aspects of trauma can be covered within one chapter, so it is important to understand how to develop your research on the various topics you will encounter in your direct practice experiences.
1) For this week’s assignment, you must choose from ONE of the two topics listed for your research – (a) or (b).
(a) Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy for PTSD with Veterans
What is EMDR? Provide detail based on your research.
How is it used specifically with Veterans?
What additional information should be considered?
How would you include the Veteran’s family?
(b) Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFST) with a Family where at least one person has experienced trauma
What is IFST? Provide detail based on your research.
How is it used with a family consisting of parent(s)/guardians and children?
What additional information should be considered?
Identify an IFST exercise/worksheet you could use in a session or as homework. What is it? What is the purpose? How would you implement it?
2) Needs to be written as a paper using the APA 7th edition Student Paper format. An example/sample paper is attached
Cited/supported using proper APA
Requires a minimum of 3-4 empirically supported references
