1.) Reread the last few pages of the book The End of Ice. Please spend an hour or more taking a walk or find a place to sit in nature while contemplating the two questions mentioned in the last paragraph of Jamail’s book. Specifically, “What are my obligations”…” and knowing now what is happening to the planet, to what do I devote my life? (You might ask for help from the land to help formulate your response creating a threshold to cross over carrying the questions with you in heart and mind.) While in nature let yourself be surprised and see what wants to show up…internally within yourself and externally from the physical environment. Is some sort of commitment being asked for or something needing to be created or marked to denote your response to the questions? 2a.)Comment on this experience and what was formulated in regard to the aforementioned question through a reflective paper 2-3 pages in length. Cite from readings, other class materials and/or outside sources to support your reflections if appropriate. 2b.)Share more about this experience via photographs of a special nature spot, poetry, music, drawings, etc. perhaps as a way to help deepen your response through these other mediums and other ways of knowing.
