Literature Review Research Matrix
Please note that the first row of data is meant as an example. Please read the example article (Peng et al., 2022) as a guide for how to dissect eachof the four articles assigned. The links to the four assigned articles are found in the Announcements area of our courseroom. These articles change each quarter. Please do not use any other articles. Use only the four articles linked in the courseroom Announcements. The focus of this research matrix is “family caregiving”. Keep in Mind:
1). This is not merely an assignment for you to find information in an article and copy and paste information into the columns in the below matrix. Read and analyze the authors’ work in each article and evaluate it based on the assigned readings for this course and then offer your evaluation of what you read. You are to offer content in the matrix to reflect that you are an informed consumer of research.
2). There is much variation in published primary research articles and reports. Not all authors will include all the same information, verbatim or at all, based on the headings in the columns below. If that is the case, you will need to offer your own analysis of what the information should be in a logical manner aligned to the other information in the source that is provided. There should be no blank cells in the matrix below. 3). Communicate your input in a manner that is completely scholarly, professional, and consistent with the expectations for members of an identified field of study, using APA style and formatting, with few or no errors and include a formal APA style reference list. The reference from the example article has been completed for you to use as a model. This week, you were introduced to the purpose statement in a research study. In the last two weeks, we’ve also focused on ethical conduct in research and the introduction to research.
This assignment focuses on building a second research matrix similar to the one from Week 3. The content you will include in this matrix includes research concepts that can be found and connected to the same four research articles related to the topic selected for this quarter that are posted in the Announcements area of the courseroom.

with research concepts connected to the topic selected for this quarter. Your instructor will provide the articles you are to use for this assignment in the Announcements area of the courseroom. A sample article is included in the matrix to demonstrate the level of depth and breadth of content you should include from the four articles you will read for this assignment. All content you include in your Research Concepts matrix should be summarized in your own words. The purpose statement for each article can be provided word-for-word from each article, however. Please use APA style and format for the citations and references in this assignment.
Competencies Measured
By successfully completing this assignment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assignment criteria:
Competency 1: Analyze the methodology used in scientific research.Identify the purpose of the study.
Identify the statement of the problem.
Competency 2: Evaluate the characteristics, purposes, benefits, strengths, and weaknesses of research methods.Explain the limitations/implications of the study.
Provide the future research possibilities.
Competency 3: Evaluate ethical issues in research studies.Describe the ethical considerations in the chosen research.
Competency 6: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and consistent with the expectations for members in the identified field of study.Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and consistent with the expectations for members of an identified field of study, using APA style and formatting.

(Peng et al., 2022)
The purpose of this paper is to explore the long-term caregiving experiences of family caregivers of people with schizophrenia (PsW) in terms of post positive and negative aspects.
We know that schizophrenia is prevalent worldwide but there is a shortage of medical resources and public health services in rural areas. These limited resources create a challenge for family caregivers and there has been little research that gives voice to these important people meaning researchers and policymakers were missing important information on caregiver burdens, their psychological health, and their quality of life.
Theoretical implications: Study advances the theory of stress and coping and the theory of symptom management by demonstrating that chronic mental illness can lead to caregiver burden and affect the psychological status of the caregiver as well as influence their coping strategies. Further, the study showed that schizophrenia is impactful for caregivers in different kinship categories. The study also looked at what happens with the caregiver changes.
Practical implications: It is good for those who are caregivers in a home-based rural setting to learn about stress-management skills, recognizing the symptoms of relapse, and how to manage the symptoms of schizophrenia. Additionally, for social policy and mental health care system practices, the study underscores the importance of strong coordination between the hospital and community-based rehab to lessen the burden on family caregivers.
Limitations: The length of time in caregiving roles for some participants was over 20 years which might have led to sampling bias. The focus on the caregiver-patient relationship over a long time period didn’t account for the process of caregiving or the differences among caregivers by gender. The relationships with other family members of the PwS weren’t explored.
Disclosure of funding source.
Ethical approval from the Human Research Ethics Committee for Non-clinical Faculties at the U of Hong Kong.
Informed consent.
No competing interests for the researchers (meaning no conflict of interest).
De-identified participants.
Future research could be empirical rather than qualitative and focus on the data from other family members of the PwS to better understand the impact on the family structure and the potential impact for the patient during the length of their illness. Future research could look at gender differences among caregivers and what the caregiving process looks like.

Please be sure to create your own formal APA style reference for the four required articles as part of your assignments in Weeks 3 and 6. What we have listed here is solely the parenthetical citations and the hyperlinks for each of the articles. To get the articles to open, you will need to be logged into the Capella courseroom or library. The Week 3 and Week 6 assignments require that you use the templates we have provided for you. Be sure you have access to Microsoft Word as it is required for all Capella courses.
