Please wright a recommendation letter for scholarship application. This scholorship is called
DR. NO-HEE PARK AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE : To provide awards to third year dental students recognized for their excellence in research, leadership, and the art and science of dentistry.
I am a 3rd year dental student at UCLA school of dentistry. During the second year of dental school which is the most demanding year I worked in Dr. No-Hee park’s lab for more than a year and during my time we published a paper in International Journal of Molecular Sciences “GV1001 Inhibits the Severity of the Ligature-induced Periodontitis and
the Vascular Lipid Deposition associated with the Periodontitis in Mice”. I am also participating in research on the prevalence of oral cancer in Jamaica with Dr. Julie Kim. In this research, we are collecting data related to the prevalence of oral cancer, people’s knowledge about it, and ways to increase awareness among the population regarding oral cancer risk factors and the importance of regular screening and early detection. We hope to use this information to make a difference in our local population.In addition, I delivered a lecture and provided hands-on training for oral cancer screening to students who were part of the Jamaica research team and members of the Dental Outreach Network club. Recently, I was accepted as the Dental Mission Initiative Coordinator for the American Association of Public Health Dentistry club. We are planning to organize more dental mission trips to serve underserved populations and make a positive impact on society. I participated in several outreach events providing free dental care to people including a mission trip to Honduras.
