Introduction: For this assignment you will write and submit an IRB-Ready Proposa

By admin

Introduction:
For this assignment you will write and submit an IRB-Ready Proposal. The IRB-Ready Proposal is a write up of what you intend to do for your research. Everyone who intends to conduct research at Tiffin University must submit to the IRB.
Activity Instructions:
Start by watching the short video posted in the Overview section for this week. You should consult with your professor about your method, so you can have a specific design. See Example Submissions to review sample IRB-ready proposals. Your IRB-Ready proposal will accompany your IRB form when delivered to the IRB. It should be formatted as in the examples.
****Your IRB-Ready proposal should contain the following:
Your title, name, institution
A literature review
A set of empirical questions. Empirical questions are questions you think are important to test, after presenting your literature review. It is similar to saying something like, “after presenting the research on this topic, the reader is left with the following questions….” Your empirical questions should come at the end of the literature review. The questions you wish to answer in your research should be listed first. Then list a few more for any future reader who may come across your research, to demonstrate your line of thought (e.g., I’m not going to answer all of these, but these are also important).
A method section that outlines the following: design (with a graph), procedure, subjects, materials
Your references. It is important to consult with your professor, especially on the design aspect of your study. This will be very helpful and will assist in avoiding delays in your research.
You will also need to select the appropriate IRB form for submission. Consult with your instructor regarding your intentions to use your research in order to ensure you are completing the appropriate form.
If you intend to present your research at any conference, including the Tiffin University student research conference, Application to Use Human Research Participants.
If you do not intend to present your research anywhere, then use In-Class Projects Short Form.
At the end of your submission, include a brief Design Statement explaining the process and tools you used to develop your work. Your statement should be about a paragraph or so, in your own words (rather than formally written), and unique to this assignment.
Tips for Success:
When writing an IRB-ready proposal it is important to keep in mind that someone will be reading it. So you must make it understandable. Write in clear, concise, and easy to understand sentences. Do not hesitate to consult with your professor for help. Professors are dedicated to your success and overly excited about all research!
Writing and Submission Requirements:
Follow the guidelines in the activity instructions above, and the Example Submissions. There are no minimum or maximum length or citation number requirements. The focus is to make it understandable and focused (quality over quantity). This is probably your first graduate proposal, so again, don’t hesitate to seek advice from your professor.
