In each module, you will complete a simulation within McGraw-Hill Connect. In the simulations, you will be presented with a series of scenarios and then apply the knowledge you’ve learned about this week’s topics to each scenario.
Complete the Simulation assignment for Chapter 6 in Connect. The Simulation serves as the tool to measure whether you master the learning objectives of the module. The Simulation covers the following chapter topics:
Fraud and Internal Control
Control of Cash
Banking Activities as Controls
Valuing Accounts Receivable
Direct Write-off Method
Allowance Method
Estimating Bad Debts
Notes Receivable
This activity prepares you for upcoming modules by establishing the fundamentals of the role of accounting in business.
Please proceed to the Connect Activity section.
The Simulation consists of ten (10) Excel worksheets with each simulation worth 87.5 points. All questions are algorithmic, randomly selected, and scrambled, which limits the student’s ability to use unapproved tools to seek out the answers.
You will have two (2) attempts to access the Simulation. Attempts after the first produce an automatic 5% penalty on the final score. After the first attempt, you will see your correct and incorrect answers and total score. You should study the concepts and materials marked incorrect on your first attempt before you take your second attempt. After your attempts, if you still have questions about the simulation concepts, contact your instructor about solutions and explanations. Some of these concepts will be used in future activities.
There are several aids available during the simulation. However, the use of these tools results in point deductions. Tools include: using the eBook, asking for hints, and verifying results. The eBook and hints options carry a 1% penalty per question from the total score whilst the “verifying results” option carries a 2% penalty. Please be advised that any integrity violations will carry an automatic zero (0) on the assessment. In addition, integrity violations will be reported to the appropriate university authorities for disciplinary action.
You do not need to submit anything to Canvas. Your score from the simulation will automatically be entered into the grade book.
