Access the national, state, or other available published standards (ex., National Council for
Teachers, of Math, English, etc.) and conduct an analysis of the standards for that grade. Use
standards from 2 of the 3 areas (national, state, or other published standards).
You will write a paper that discusses, in detail, the similarities and differences in the 2 sets of
standards. You will include 1–2 paragraphs describing the community you are creating
curriculum for. Your description must include:
the size of the student body
the demographics of the community
the school’s facilities, the structure of the school program
the extra-curricular offerings.
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both sets of standards, and consider how a curriculum
developer might combine the best standards from each resource to produce an “ideal”
curriculum.
