Based on the final project outline and timeline developed in Module 2, discuss your
rationale in the form of a literature review for the recommendations you intend to
propose to your client in the final project due in Module 7. The purpose of a literature
review is to ground your recommendations on sound evidence.
 Your rationale must be based on ONE of the four approaches listed below:
o Servant Leadership
o Transformational Leadership
o Path-Goal
o Authentic Leadership
 Use these headings to develop your paper:
 Title Page
 Abstract
 Introduction
o Provide an overview on what is succession planning, why it is important, and
how does it relate to leadership and leadership development. Additionally,
briefly discuss the issue under review in the case.
 Literature Review
o Discuss succession planning organizational best practices from similar cases
based on the scholarly literature as well as the leadership approach theoretical
framework that you will be using to support the rationale for your later
proposed solution.
o Consider questions and topics such as these:
 What are the strengths of the leadership approach you are
recommending?
 How has this approach been effective in other settings?
 What does the research tell us about this leadership approach?
 Are there any limitations and how will they be addressed?
 These questions are suggestions. Work on generating your own list of
topics or questions to begin your Literature Review.
o As you review scholarly sources, you may discover additional relevant topics or
realize that some topics/questions are less significant.
o Put your best paraphrasing and synthesizing skills to use. Your paragraphs should
be organized by topic, not by individual article. Work on having effective
transitions between paragraphs. Write in third person only, supporting your
assertions with cited sources. The resources below will help you to understand
how to write this section.
 Conclusion
o Provide a summary recap of the paper’s discussion. What are the highlights?
What are the most relevant or significant findings from your review of the
literature?
