B) Select one scenario of a preschool child with special needs from the attached
list (“EDU221.AdaptAssgn.Scenarios.doc”) or you
may use a child with special needs you currently have in your preschool classroom.
For this child select two assistive technology. devices _ that can help the child to be included and participate fully in an inclusive early childhood classroom. It can be a toy, a communication device, a mobility device, a self-help aid, etc.
IMPORTANT NOTE duphe assistive technology devices that you select must be developmentally appropriate and useful for a preschool age child (ages 1 – 5). Consider the child’s disability and age. Will the device actually be usable or helpful for this particular child?
C) To submit: In a brief typed report include the following (number each section of your report, #1 and #2):
1) First, provide website addresses and give brief descriptions (6 – 8 sentences) for at least two websites you located in your search.
2) Next, describe the two assistive technology. devices (5 – 8 sentences each) that you feel would be helpful for this child. In addition, explain why each of these devices is developmentally appropriate for this child and how they would help the child be included and participate fully with the children in their classroom.
The scenario I chose:
1) Three year old boy with Down Syndrome. He has low muscle tone and mild to moderate mental retardation. He functions cognitively at the level of ~ 18 – 24 months.
