Then, click hereLinks to an external site. to access a wide variety of images and descriptions of gendered products. Select 2 products “for boys/men” and 2 products “for girls/women”.
Briefly describe each product you chose. Note that you should be briefly describing here a total of 4 products. This will help us know which products you will be referencing in your answers to the following questions.
Think about how these products are meant to be used. Is there any reason why the products have to be gendered like this, beyond marketing? Briefly explain.
Think about the gender binary, as described in this week’s assigned course material (linked above). In about 75 words, tell us which of these products align with a strict gender binary system and how so. In your answer, please reference specifics of the products and key points/details form the assigned class material in order to show your understanding of the gender binary system.
Now, in 75 words, explain how your analysis of these products can help us better understand how gender is socially salient (i.e., how gender is one of the ways we organize or ‘structure’ our world). Please reference key points/details from the assigned course material to demonstrate your understanding of the sociological view of gender as socially salient.

Read the introductory paragraph and then choose 1 of the 6 topic areas to focus on for your answers to the following questions.
Which topic area will you be focusing on (choose 1 of the following: Gender Income Gaps, Gender Wealth Gaps, Gender Poverty Gaps, Transgender Economic Gaps, Inequality and Reproductive Rights, or Inequality Across Gender Diversity and COVID-19)?
Read through the descriptions and graphs provided in the topic area you selected. Tell us at least 3 facts that stand out to you and briefly explain why each of these facts stands out to you.
What concepts from this week’s assigned course material (linked above) can help explain the 3 facts you described in your answer to the previous question? In your answer, please be sure to reference each of the 3 facts you identified and, for each fact, reference key points/details from the assigned course material to demonstrate your understanding of the sociology of gender and gender inequality.
