Purpose: This goal of this assignment is to reflect on your group project experience, identify how you experienced the various small group concepts and theories during the group process, and evaluate your group’s performance.
Task: In this 4- to 6-page, double spaced paper that adheres to APA style, you will reflect on your group project experience, explain how you and your group members experienced the small group concepts and theories you learned this semester, and rate your group’s performance. Divide your paper into three parts: (1) describe your group project; (2) identify and explain the small group concepts and theories applied in your group; (3) evaluate your group performance. You should answer the following questions in detail in your paper:
Part 1:Who are the members of your group? Katherine T, Katherine O, Daliah Dawkins, Jordy, Laura P
What did you experience when your group initially formed? A lot of scheduling conflicts
How did you make decisions related to your group project? Daliah was the main leader, figured out a way to virtually do everything so that we could successfully complete the project.
Was the work equitable across group members or did the majority of the work fall on a few group members? Everyone did their part, Laura and Daliah went above and beyond, Daliah was our leader
What are the positive and negative aspects of how your group worked together? Negative-not being able to meet in person, lots of scheduling conflicts.
Part 2:Identify at least 4 concepts from our textbook that you experienced with your group this semester. Briefly describe/explain each concept and show how you experienced it. For example, did you experience the phases of development? Briefly explain each phase and describe how it functioned in your group experience.
Was it surprising to see these concepts and theories at work? Teamwork, leadership, group conferences, forming.
Part 3What is your relationship with your group members? All of us were strangers but quickly became contributing members.
Do you think your group was successful in completing the group project? Yes
What were your favorite and least favorite parts of working in a group? Favorite was the Zoom calls and good communication. We made deadlines, very good communication, everyone did their part.
What would you do differently if you were to do this project again? Start as early as possible to be able to meet in person.
A successful student will:
Craft a 4- to 6-page essay that adheres to APA style.
Use appropriate grammar, syntax, and organization (i.e. introduction, thesis statement, transitions, conclusion).
Clearly and thoroughly address all parts of the writing prompt.
Use specific examples from the text to support claims made in the essay.
Review the rubric I will use to evaluate your submission.
Submit the essay to the appropriate dropbox by the deadline.
