As consumers of information we need to understand that not only do texts convey information, but they also influence how and what we think. We need to read them, then, understand not only what texts say but also how they say it and how they try to persuade or influence us. The textual analysis essay is a way for you to demonstrate your ability to develop a clear interpretation of a text based on evidence from the text itself and on the method of analysis used.
Requirements: For this essay you will analyze how one topic is presented in two different texts. You will need a total of two different texts (image, website, article, video, magazine).
Format
The final draft for all five major essays must be 700- 1000 words in length, word-processed using Microsoft Word—Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, and in MLA format, to include the header, one-inch margins, and double-line spacing.
