Please engage in a class discussion by sharing a response to this discussion that addresses all of the points listed below. For this particular discussion, I am encouraging you to try a video response. You may opt out of that if you wish. If video doesn’t work for you, you may, of course reply through writing or in or audio form.
If you are responding with a video or audio recording: Aim to create a response that is no more than 3 minutes in length (TikTok rules).Use the Canvas “Record/Upload Media” button to record your response. (Here’s a link to a guide with directions)Links to an external site.
You can also submit a YouTube link if that works for you. You can also create a TikTok and share that link.
I ask that you not submit any files that I need to download as that makes viewing them much more difficult.
If you are responding in written form: Feel free to structure this how you would like–maybe a bulleted list with answers for each question, one large paragraph, or a few shorter paragraphs. It might be helpful to imagine you are writing a letter to the class.
Reflect on what you feel are some of your main takeaways from your experience reading Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.
Then Share some of your analysis by answering the following questions:
What is your reaction to reading the first half of the novel? Why?
What is an important moment, scene, image, symbol, theme, or motif from the novel?
Where do we see it? Pinpoint, either through summary, paraphrase, or direct quote, a significant aspect of the text that highlights your chosen moment, scene, image, symbol, theme, or motif ? Please include a reference to Chapter and page number so we can find it too!
Why is this particular element in the text significant? Explain how your chosen moment, scene, image, symbol, theme, or motif is depicted in the novel.
What does your chosen moment, scene, image, symbol, theme, or motif contribute to the overall text?
