Persuasive Essay On the decline of mental health pre coid and post covid,
Write an essay that takes a stand on an issue. Your introduction should present your issue, provide background, and the claim (the thesis) you intend to support. In constructing your thesis, you will need to provide an explicit claim based in sound reasoning that establish the relationships between the variables (or major sections of your essay).
The body of your essay should either examine the problem and discuss its effects on a certain population. You will need to incorporate the three appeals of persuasion, establishing an ethos for yourself and your selected sources, developing a rational argument through logos, and engaging your readers through pathos by using story-like anecdotes, specific details, and vivid, emotionally vibrant, yet diplomatic language.

Your argument essay’s grade is based on the following criteria:
5%. A compelling introduction with appropriate background information, research question and your major thesis claim that represents the constituents of your essay
45%. Each body paragraph should begin with a topic sentence that harkens back to your thesis and provides development and evidence for the paragraph’s topic.
Possible rhetorical functions for each paragraph could include a history of the issue, the current situation, causes, effects, and any other pertinent information that is important to making your argument.
Each paragraph should be well-developed through the use of the ladder of abstraction (by providing concrete details for each of your major ideas); well-connected through cohesion and unity; and well-supported through the source integration strategy. The body of your essay should also have appropriate transitions between paragraphs. Failure to attempt to use these strategies could end up in a failing grade.
30 %. A total of at least five – seven sources, with a correctly formatted APA in-text citations and reference page
The following mediums are required: one from a mixed-media source (film, interview, video), two from academic peer reviewed journals, and the remaining ones will be your choice (Wikipedia and social media feeds are not allowed unless you are strategically using them for a specific topic).
Significant evidence includes: factual data, statistics, personal examples (real or hypothetical), testimony, peer-reviewed research, and logical sub-arguments.
You will also need to show evidence of the source integration strategies we will go over in class.
Do not allow the sources to do the work for you, or your paper will receive a failing grade.
5%. Evidence of audience awareness, through the integration of rhetorical appeals of persuasion which include syntax, word choice, figurative language, diction (all forms of ethos, pathos, logos). Remember you want to ask yourself, who most do I need to make this argument to and how will I convince them? Then choose your rhetorical moves accordingly.
