Purpose: In this Unit, skeptical inquiry into urban legends and paranormal phenomena is in the spotlight. The folkloric aspects of these are broadly entertaining: people like a good ghost story or a good campfire tale. However, the psychological, cultural and sociological motivations for that are complex and equally engaging once held to the scrutiny of skeptical inquiry.
