Assignment Description:
When counselors are faced with an ethical dilemma, they use and document, as appropriate, an
ethical decision-making model that may include, but is not limited to, consultation; consideration of relevant ethical standards, principles, and laws; generation of potential courses of action;
deliberation of risks and benefits; and selection of an objective decision based on the
circumstances and welfare of all involved (I.1.b.).
Students will submit a paper demonstrating their understanding of an ethical decision-making
model, and the ability to apply a decision-making model to an ethical dilemma provided by the
instructor.
Student Directions:
A. Students will submit a paper discussing one of the following ethical decision-making models
provided by the course instructor.
B. Students will describe the application process of the decision-making model to the following
ethical dilemma – include multicultural implications as part of your response:
The course instructor will list a specific counseling related ethical dilemma or dilemmas for the
student to apply the ethical decision-making model. Ethical scenarios may be selected from:
