In this discussion we are exploring health inequalities as it relates to race and COVID-19.
Much research on the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. has found that Black Americans have been disproportionately impacted by the virus. The following graph shows African Americans as a percent of population and as a percent of COVID-19 cases by states for which there is adequate data:
Given what we have read in Chapter 14 regarding health inequalities (and the information we have been considering all semester), what do you think are 2-3 of the factors that most contribute to this disparity?

In this exercise you will explore education inequalities in the school(s)that you attended.
Visit ProPublica’s Miseducation website on inequities in education. Search for your high school or elementary school. If you did not attend K-12 in the U.S., or you studied at an online school, please select the school closest to where you currently live. Then, consider the following questions in your assignment write-up:
1- What is the overall racial makeup of your school?
2- What is the racial divide in discipline? What is the racial divide in opportunity, including those in AP and/or gifted classes?
3- What phenomena/concepts presented in the textbook do you think account for the inequalities you found?
