Our final exam will contain the essay question (see the prompt below), three quote contextualization questions just like the ones on the last exam, and two short answer reflection questions (one about the course in general and the other about the sources of King’s success).
All thoughtful, well-developed answers for the two reflection questions will earn full points, since they are open-ended and personal. The reflection questions constitute 20% of the final exam.
Essay Prompt (worth 50% of the final exam grade)
Use one of the following themes and two of the following texts to compose an essay consisting of 5 paragraphs. You may pick two books, but you may NOT pick two movies as your texts; one of the texts must be a novel/novella. You may find contrast between your texts (Text A represents X about my theme while Text B represents Z about my theme) or comparison (Text A and B indicate C about my theme).
All essays should contain a thesis statement in the first paragraph. The middle paragraphs should prove that thesis with quotes and specific paraphrase from the texts. The final paragraph should function as a conclusion.
