With your newly acquired knowledge you will “curate” an imaginary exhibition for your art style.
<
As a “curator” you are tasked with helping the visitors to your exhibition to understand the art style. Please think about:
<
• What is the art style about?
<
How is this reflected in the art work?
<
What inspired the art style?
<
What impact did the style have?
<
What are the most important aspects you want the visitors to understand after leaving your exhibit?
<
For your submission you will need to select five (5) art works for your exhibition.
<
Each work should be carefully selected in order to say as much as possible about the style. For instance, if you were creating an exhibition on Post Impressionism, you wouldn’t want all five (5) works to be from Van Gogh, since he is only one artist and wouldn’t give the viewer a good breadth of the style. Additionally, you wouldn’t want to select a work from Eric Gill, who exhibited with the Post Impressionists but who is really known for his work in other styles.
<
Each student will submit a paper, double-spaced in 12 pt. Times New Roman with an introductory essay of one to two paragraphs that explains about the collection and what the group should tell the exhibition visitor. It will then present the five works in the order of your choice.
<
For each work you will need to insert an image of the work along with a label that provides the artists name, the title of the work, the media of the work, and the date it was created. Additionally, you will write one to three paragraphs about the work and why it is important.
<
This paper will be worth 100 points, graded on:
<
Writing: I am looking for writing that holds the readers’ interest, with well-phrased sentences free of grammatical errors.
<
Purpose: The paper should contain a thesis statement in the introductory essay, with the choice of art works and their statements supporting this.
<
Content: The information is significant to the subject, giving the reader insight into the subject.
<
Organization: Your ideas should be arranged in a logical order, so the reader is able to follow your line of reasoning.
