“High reliability has become an up and coming theme in the health care industry over the past few years. This is due to organizations focus and push to improve the quality of health care patients receive and patient safety in general. The critical success factors listed in the paper give a good idea of what is needed to promote and sustain high reliability in the health care industry. The two critical success factors that I believe hold the most importance is making sure that all impacted stakeholders are involved and communicating the organizations future-state goals. Making sure that all impacted stakeholders are involved is super important because it makes sure that everyones voice is being hired and everyone is involved in decisions that will ultimately impact them in a capacity. High reliability should not involve only providers and health care professionals but patients and their families too. Especially since it is patients who can identify shortcomings in the system through their own experiences. All health care staff top to bottom also need to be engaged this is to help support them and for them to help support the system by being involved in the system they will uphold. Various staff members can be a valuable asset in suggesting practical solutions. The second critical success factor that is important is communicating the organizations future-state goals. It is important to communicate the vision both short term and long term in order to instill confidence in high reliability. Everyone should feel like they have a solid understanding of where the organization is currently and where it is heading. Transparency is super important and communication should be used to inform staff about upcoming changes and challenges that their system is facing. This will build trust between the system and staff and in turn will create a provider-patient relationship.”
