Each student will need to turn in an annotated bibliography on any topic related to the content of the class. This will include a minimum of 10 references. An annotated bibliography includes the correct citation for the article or chapter, followed by a brief paragraph describing the contents of the paper. This brief description should NOT be a duplicate of the published abstract for the piece reviewed. This citation must be done in APA style. Only summarize empirical research. Provide a copy of the cover page for each article or chapter included. The cover pages will be turned in in a separate file from the written assignment, which will be submitted through the trunitin portal.
The citation should be followed directly by the summary. The summary will be double spaced (not in bold) just below the citation. The summary should be an indented paragraph (just like in this example). There should NOT be page breaks between citations (let it flow just like any other paper- even if some summaries run from one page to the next). Only the citation is single-spaced! Everything else is double-spaced. With the exception of the citation (which is single-spaced in bold), everything else about the paper must be done in APA style (e.g., cover page, margins, headers, footers, running head, page numbers etc…). If you have not checked the APA style manual, check it out ASAP! You can also check out online!
Structure of the summary
1. What was the study/experiment designed to examine? (1 sentence)
2. What did they hypothesize? (1 sentence-not always necessary)
3. What did they do? (May take more than one sentence)
4. What did they find? (One or 2 sentences)
5. What do they make of this finding? (One sentence)
Try not to include too much unnecessary detail about the sample and analysis.
