THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK PAPER ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW:
This assignment encourages you to reflect and become acutely aware of your pedagogical stance
toward early childhood education. You may choose to elaborate on the belief statements you
posted in your Discussion: Theoretical Beliefs or you may revise any of those statements as you
wish. Refrain from writing a Personal Philosophy of Education related only to the broad field of
education.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Write five statements on your personal beliefs or ideology on early childhood education. Among
those five statements, the following two beliefs integral to optimal early childhood education
must be included:
1. the importance of play, and
2. the importance of cultural competence to a well-rounded, optimal early childhood
education.
You will then choose and elaborate on at least three other beliefs specific to early childhood
education.
It is expected that you will thoroughly describe the five belief statements reflecting your personal
early childhood education philosophy and the accepted learning theories currently informing best
practices in early childhood education.
1. Begin each “belief” section with the statement, “I believe…..”
2. Each belief section should successfully summarize your belief, defending the belief with
citations of supporting evidence from at least one distinct outside scholarly source per
belief.
3. Each belief section should conclude with a separate paragraph summarizing your belief
and connecting it with supportive evidence from Scripture.
4. The paper must include at least five scholarly references in addition to the class text and
the Bible.
5. A title and references page are required in addition to the minimum of five pages of
content.
