Description: For this assignment, you will join a few colleagues to form a subcommittee working on various aspects of budget planning and development for an organization.
Subcommittees will include Fundraising & Social Enterprise; Programs; Capital Projects; Human Resources and Operations; Marketing, Public Relations, and Advocacy
Your group will complete the following work for this assignment:
1. Break down the main line budget items related to your subcommittee focus, (e.g. Fundraising, think about all of the potential income and expense items to complete a more focused budget.) This budget breakdown must be completed in an excel document and in the format of a budget, Income at the top, Expenses below, with Total/Net profit(deficit) at the bottom. Use the provided Budget for format.
2. Record your group discussing why you have constructed your income and costs as you have done. The recording can be done using your student Zoom Account and should be no longer than 5 minutes. Explain the income and cost breakdown you have used and why. Given the state of the organization’s reduced income, consider researching grant opportunities available through the Municipal, Provincial, and Federal Governments, or Foundation Grants that might provide additional income for the project(s).
For students in the HR group, please note the following.
For this exercise, the cost of health benefits for employees of the organization is approximately $200 per month, per employee (assume you have 15 employees eligible for health benefits). Vacation is 6% of an employee’s annual salary. Don’t worry about accruing vacation time (meaning, this organization does not carry vacation over from year to year. Mandatory Employee Related Costs (MERCs) are 8%.
