The publication and spread of Fake News and false information has become a major political issue as social media has gained importance in the modern internet-connected world. To explore the topic, do the following:
Research and find an example of an incident involving fake news.
Read the following article about what defines a cybercrime: https://www.britannica.com/topic/cybercrime
Cybercrime | Definition, Statistics, & Examples
Cybercrime, the use of a computer as an instrument to further illegal ends, such as committing fraud, stealing identities, or violating privacy. Cybercrime, especially through the Internet, has grown in importance as the computer has become central to commerce, entertainment, and government.

Create a presentation (powerpoint) and then make a video of that presentation (screencast) that summarizes the incident and answers the following questions:
Should posting fake news be considered a cybercrime? Why or why not? If so, what should the punishment be?
Should steps be taken to prevent fake news? Why or why not? If so, who should be responsible for preventing it?
Your presentation should be a minimum of 6 slides and should include a title slide and a references slide. Include MLA style citations with the links to your resources about the incident you choose. You must include at least one resource.
Your video needs to cover all of the required points, but be brief and concise. Aim for between 2 – 6 minutes. Upload your video to Youtube. Your post should include the link to your Youtube video.
To receive full credit for this discussion topic you must respond to the post of at least one of your classmates. Your response must contribute more to the discussion than simple agreement and be at least 50 words in length. Ideally, you will add a fact or idea about the topic that your classmate did not mention or share a personal story about the topic. If you post early you will be able to write back to anyone who responds to your post, creating a real discussion, which is the point to this exercise.
