Part II: My Hypothesis
Review the sections “Framing a Hypothesis” (pp. 44) and “Hints for Stating Hypothesis” (pp. 46-47) in Ch. 2 of the text. Remember that a hypothesis is a “formalized hunch” or an “educated guess” about a relationship between two variables, causes and effects, or why something is the way it is. Here are some examples:
Students whose parents have at least a college education will have significantly higher scores in mathematics and science than students whose parents have not gone to college.
Males who live alone and lack social interaction are more likely to experience clinical depression.
Individuals with low income face poorer health due to a variety of risks associated with poverty, such as inadequate nutrition, lack of quality healthcare, lack of quality housing, exposure to a variety of physical hazards, and heightened stress than their high-income counterparts.
