Assignment Description
Students must “follow” one actor and give me three (3) well supported acting observations concerning their work:
Articulate what worked for you (roses) and/or what may not have worked for you (thorns).
It is not enough to say: “I loved how angry they were.” or “I liked it.” or “I didn’t like it.” or “It was weird. I didn’t get it.” Tell me why! Why did you love the actor’s anger? What did they do to help you understand their emotion or the circumstance? Why didn’t you understand? Was it because of the actor’s choice? If so, what choice did they make that left you confused or unfulfilled? Please give specific examples.
If you worked on a show (either as a performer, designer, director, or crew member), you SHOULD articulate three (3) experiences/discoveries/breakthroughs you had during the rehearsal & production process. It can be any experience(s) you had. Please be specific and tie them back to things we’ve learned in class if possible.
This assignment should be in outline form.
I have posted a sample of what your observation can look like. Again, it’s just a sample to help give you direction. Yours does not have to be this long or express the same points. It’s an example:
